Curriculum Vitae Prof. Dr. Henri van Bree

He graduated in 1974 at the Ghent University in Belgium. Immediately after he graduated he found interest in medical imaging and orthopaedic surgery. A part of his training has been fulfilled at the University of Utrecht, Holland, Department of Radiology.

He is Diplomate of both the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). He finished his PhD at the University of Utrecht, Holland, Department of Radiology on “comparative imaging in the canine shoulder”.

In 1991 he became full professor in medical imaging and orthopaedic surgery at the Department of Medical Imaging and Small Animal Orthopaedics, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ghent, Belgium where he was head of the Department from 2001 until 2015.

In Europe he is one of the founding fathers of small animal arthroscopy and invited lecturer on this subject on many occasions and at several universities.
In 2014 he was awarded with the “Richard-Völker-Medaille der Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kleintiermedizin (DGK-DVG)“ for his achievements in Veterinary Medicine.

He was an invited speaker at about 150 international conferences on medical imaging and small animal orthopaedics.
He is author of about 250 publications on medical imaging and orthopaedics.
His research topics are: comparative imaging in small animal joint disease.
